Choosing the right model and configuration is obviously vital.
The following is a general guide to assist you with choosing the correct enclosure:
A ‘Standard’ enclosure means that it has a rear panel. A ‘backless’ enclosure does not have a rear panel – but has 2 ‘wall strips’ and a ‘horizontal bridge’ ‘in lieu if the rear panel.
Backless enclosures are an alternative when the equipment is located within 50mm of a wall. In such cases, Pool Filter Box offers a backless variant of each model, with most of the back section (against the wall) free for equipment/pipes/electricals etc to be located. Please note, backless enclosures add 65mm to the depth.
Backless boxes utilise 2 ‘wall strips’ which connect the enclosure to the wall, with a ‘horizontal bridge’ affixed to the top of the wall strips to ensure the system is fully enclosed. The wall strips should be attached to the wall, and 3 locations are available along the height of the wall strip to affix to the wall. The wall strips are 115mm wide (the part that is affixed to the wall) and are located on each side of the box.
Footings are chemically treated timber pine sleepers – cut to the size of the enclosure. The width of the timber footings are 45mm. The footings come pre-drilled and ready to assemble – supplied with galvanised timber screws for connecting the footings together, and 16mm screws for securing the enclosure to the footings.
The footings provide additional protection for the box against corrosion by preventing contact with the ground.
They are also used / needed when there is no even or level ground (the enclosure needs to sit on an even or level surface such as a concrete slab or pavers).
Please note the footings will increase the height of the enclosure by 90mm
For planning purposes, if you are pouring a formed concrete slab, please allow for an additional 25mm around the box i.e. 50mm more than both the width and depth dimensions.
The ventilation gaps of the enclosure (25mm all along the back and front of the enclosure) have been tested by an Industrial Engineer to ensure adequate protection of pool pumps & other equipment. The gaps are also designed in a way to allow for wirings and conduits to pass in and out of the enclosure.
Pool Filter Box uses Australian made 20mm thick Acoustic Foam industrially affixed to the interior of our enclosures. The Dark Grey foam is typically a grade of 29/400 which equates to the following:
These properties, combined with the design of the enclosure, facilitate an 80-81% reduction in noise when applied to the enclosure
The Foam is treated with Ultra Fresh protection to guard against dust mites, bacteria and fungi.
The Pool Pump Cover uses 0.9mm steel hot-dipped in zinc creating a coated commercial forming steel with a spangled surface, which is then skinpassed to improve surface quality. The Pool Pump Cover uses only galvanized steel with a minimum 0.3mm inch zinc coating, meeting and exceeding Australian and International standards for galvanized steel:
The galvabond steel panels may be ‘core drilled’ to accommodate pipework, electrical cabling etc. Please note, The Pool Filter Box suggests that a (silicone) sealant is used to cover the core drill cut to reduce the likelihood of rust impacting the panel.
